Of course a docter can explain the technical aspects of joined trills. However the feeling is something completely different. Trills are not born joined. And most Trills are not suitable to become a host, so th majority of the population is not joined. Whenever a Trill has been found physically suitable to carry a symbiont he or she must undergo a rigorous training. That way only the best are selected to become host. The selections is rigorous because a symbiont carries a lot of responsibility with it. The most difficult part is that a joined Trill carries the lives of all its predecessors. Since symbionts have a lifespan that carries far over most humanoids.
The Hailey symbiont fo example has lived for at least 6 lives.

How does it then feel to be a joined trill?
Well the first days that i was joined were difficult i had to cope with a syndrome that can be explained best with multi personality syndrom. I felt like i was another person at some times. To learn to control and also to benefit from your previous home is an benefieciary experience that takes years to fully grow. Its an extraordinary skill one has to develop over the years.
Right now i feel that the presence of the symbiont completes me. They are part of my life. Living without them is like missing a part of yourself.

The symbiont benefits from a host, therefore he is provided with food from the host. In return he gives the experiences of the lives of the predecessors. Most joined trills are therefore very wide skilled in various fields.

As for me, being a joined trill completes me.

That is very interesting Captain, So can you communicate with this symbiont?  I have never noticed you having a conversation with yourself so I would assume that you could not, but I could be wrong.

I can see there a lot of questions in regard to the symbiont. I would be glad to answer them of course.
I can communicate with my symbiont, but when i do you will no notice it, since its a mental proces. It is not that i speak with symbiont as i would to other humanoids. Communications i quite easy, since the symbiont knows what i need it will provide the information immediatly. Basically its triggered just as a memory or something you have learned. You never forget to learn to walk, you just do. This is with the symbiont as well. It know all i know and vice versa.

To answer the second question. I am aware of the symbiont all the time, however not really physically. You are not aware of your stomach either. That is until you have fallen ill, then you know it. It is the same with the symbiont.

As i child i grew up on Trehan, Trill. My mother was an artist and my father a restaurant owner. Trehan is a remote region in the southern continent. In the official Maquis database you can read about my upbringing and career in Maquis. http://ussatlanta.starpoint.net/bios2.php?id=216

I have done various interesting fields before i decided to join Starfleet. I have been studying to become a scientist and i have studied on the Trill academy. On Trill academy one has to do several tests to determine wether one can be selected to join. Because i came from Trehan the committee didnt accept me. Trehan is considered as a backward region on Trill. However i refused to accept and after public pressure they decided they havent been judging me fairly. During my final examinations they put on me the most difficult tests they have ever been doing. Luckily i passed them so the committee had no ground to refuse me a symbiont.

After i have been joined i did a year scientific work on Trill in astrophysics and temporal and quantum physics.  After i applied for the Academy i got applications for the science department immediatly. I accepted and started to take up the science course but was  much more interested in what other departments did, so i quited the science department immediatly. I knew that i wanted to do something different so i tried to take up other training courses and did flight training Tactical school and command. With good grades i passed summa cum laude 3th of the class.

My first assignments were tactical ones. But as soon as i climbed ranks the assigments became more towards strategic and command. It was during my time as  on the USS Thunderchild that the Federation betrayed our principles. Just after the Nebula class vessel ironically renamed USS Resistance had joined the Maquis the Captain and i decided after carefull research to cede with the federation. It was the beginning of a sad time. Many of our crew were afraid never to see their families again and some even protested. There was nothing we could do but ask each and eveyone to either join, or leave the ship. Very few left the ship. But those who did held grudges against us for a long time.

I have done several mission on the Thunderchild as XO before Maquis command deemed me fit for a seat amongst the captains. As one of the youngest captains ever i was given the USS Yeager, Sabre class. However i noticed that there had been several steamrunner class vessel sitting in dock waiting to be dismantled for other pusposes that i wanted to know if they could be of strategic value. A year of dedicated research with Lt Swenson (former chief engineer) and others gave the vessel a new purpose.

From there on the many interesting missions as CO started.

What are your thoughts on this war we are in right now?

Well there is a question:

First let me start on the way i see things; the federation are abusing their authority to subjugate the civilians. The basic principles on which the federation has been founded have been violated. I think its the obligation of we rebels to bring back the basic principles of the federation and liberate all those who are subject to the dictatorship of the current federation rulers.

Those Rulers have not been elected, nor are they in any other way representatives of the peoples of the federation. I think its the duty of we the maquis to show that there is another way possible. Though presonally i would rather have resolved this without any violence, the problem is that the rulers of the federation, influenced by cardassians and other forces seem to have a tendency to destroy the maquis rather then to find a peaceful solution. Then there is nothing left but to defend ourselves and the principles we stand for!

Did you know that Captain Hailey served on the USS Thunderchiled with Dr Dani Suro? Did you know that they defected together with other crew of the ship?

Well you will know if you read the posts that will come up in the atlanta game: ussatlanta.starpoint.net

The adventures are not just beginning, but they never end!

Did you know the captain has been trapped by a romulan time device and interfered with their plans to develop a time weapon?

Did you know that Ravalaok was a former crewmember of the USS Atlanta and has an intense hatred of the Atlanta and their crew?

Did you know that the Atlanta is a steamrunner class starship upgrade with a triple MA/AMA warpcore and newer armament and shielding? And did you know that it went to rigorous testing spearheaded by Commander Hailey at that time?

Did you know the ship is still not 'perfect' by former federation standards, but does quite well as time goes by?

The captain is trying to remember something from a long gone past, it has to do with her symbiont and her former hosts. Her host has suffered from some trauma ages ago, and its all coming back to the captain now...
